Coniston is a sheep, cropping and seed farm on the outskirts of Ashburton offering a range of products to visitors: Coniston Homestead (built in 1918), The Gardeners Cottage (built in 1870), Farm Tours, 5.5 acres of woodland and formal gardens.
CONISTON HOMESTEAD
Coniston Homestead (built 1918) has been recently renovated to provide four guestrooms:
- 1 queen ensuite bedroom with TV and phone which opens to verandah, perfect for honeymooners
- 1 super-king with ensuite bedroom
- 2 twin rooms share one bathroom with spa bath
All rooms hair dryers, toiletries, heated floors and towel rails, demist mirrors and bathrobes, cotton bed linen; fresh flowers. Phone, Fax and email available. Full breakfast provided; lunch by request extra. Guest kitchenette, guest lounge with open fire, TV/video, CDs, games, books and writing desk. Laundry available. Children over 10 years welcome. On-site parking. Helicopter access. Continental and cooked breakfasts are served in the formal dining room or alfresco on the guest verandahs, looking out into the garden. Dinner is available at Ashburton restaurants are nearby.

THE GARDENERS COTTAGE
The Gardeners Cottage (built in 1870) is situated on the edge of the 5.5 acres of established garden. The cottage features 4 bedrooms including 1 double and 1 twin bedroom downstairs, and 1 twin attic bedroom. There is also a small room with a single bed next to the double bedroom. All beds have electric blankets. The kitchen/dining room has a log fire and is fully equipped. The lounge has an open fire. TV, video, CD player and board/card games for family entertainment. The bathroom features shower and original claw foot bath. There is separate laundry. Outside you will find a barbecue area with gas barbecue and plenty of room for the children to play with a tree swing and outdoor games. Portacot, highchair, stroller and bicycles provided. Continental and cooked breakfast provisions available (extra charge).

GARDEN
6.5 acres of woodland and formal gardens attracts birdlife and includes many rare and mature trees, with one planted to commemorate the visit of Queen Elizabeth 11 in 1981. The 100's of rhododendrons and camellias feature in the spring time, the blossoms reflect in the lake. In the summer time the formal rose gardens are a blaze of colour. Lake rowing and canal walk on site. Chapel and Garden Weddings with Marquee area avaliable.
